Bernard L. McCammon
Jan. 10, 1920 - March 6, 2006

Bernard L. McCammon, 86, formerly of Fir Road, Mishawaka, passed away at 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, in the Milton Home, South Bend. Bernard was born January 10, 1920, in Jasonville, Indiana, to the late Gilbert and Maude (Byarley) McCammon. On December 6, 1941, he married Frances Walerko in Elkhart. She preceded him in death in 1978. Bernard was a lifelong Granger resident and a true Irishman. Bernard, better known as Mac, was a hard-working, dedicated family man who took great pride in serving his county. Mac was an avid gardener, and was well accomplished in the kitchen, nearly famous for his soups and peanut butter fudge. A visit to Pa Mac's was sure to include a major "feast" of good foods and much laughter. The only thing that came close to his love for family was his love for classic country and Notre Dame football. Mac is survived by two daughters, Darlene (George) Walker of Elkhart and Debra (Martin) DeGeyter of Osceola; and one son, Gary L. (Claire) McCammon of Dublin, Ohio. Mac has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He had two sisters precede him in death.
