Gailann Vaszari, 84 years old, passed away at 1:49 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital. Gailann was born on January 8, 1938 in South Bend to the late Robert J. and Elayne G. (Heintzleman) Palmer. She has lived most of her life on Riddle’s Lake in Lakeville. On April 27, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakeville, Gailann and Robert Vaszari were united in marriage. Bob preceded her in death on December 27, 2007 after 50 years of marriage. Gailann worked at E.H. Tepe for 15 years. Gailann is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Tom) Bogunia, and two sons, Kevin and Bob Vaszari, all of Lakeville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Travis Vaszari; and her brother, Kent Palmer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gailann Vaszari may be donated to Logan Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615. The family would like to thank Gailann’s longtime caregivers, Cathy Rush, Stephanie Filley, Leslie Fisher, Bonnie Riggle, Amber Hesch, and Kathryn Allen, for their care and compassion.
