Ethel Mnichowski, 92 passed away peacefully on April 20,2021. She was born in Kapuvar Hungary on December 11, 1928 to Anna and Joseph Sipocz. When she was 6 weeks old she moved to America with her parents. She lived her life in So. Bend and graduated from South Bend Catholic High School. On January 19, 1952 she married Ernest Mnichowski. She then traveled the world while her husband was in the Air Force for 25 years. She retired in New Orleans where she lived until 2019. Ethel was a devout Catholic, loved to go dancing, an avid reader but her most enjoyment came from her grandkids and great grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She is survived by her children Janice (Tom) Blum, Crystal Lake, IL, Alan (Pam) Mnichowski, New Orleans, La, Ronnie(Grace) Mnichowski, Lemont, IL, Andy (Collene) Mnichowski, So.Haven , Mississippi, and Cheryl Williams, Indianapolis Indiana. She is also survived by her sister, Anne Eaton, So. Bend, Indiana, brothers, James (Laurie) Sipocz and Joseph (Theresa) Sipocz both of So. Bend, Indiana and sister-in-law Josephine Sipocz. Her 10 grandchildren, Chris, David, Jason, Dayna, Derek, Mark, Bradley, Cody, Shae, and Louis. Her 9 great grandchildren, Jack, Dawson, Carter, Austin, Alayna, Ali Kate, Harper, Mila and John Alan. She was preceded in death by Ernest Mnichowski, sons Stephen and David, Brothers Joseph and Stephen and her parents. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to St. Jude or the Wounded Warriors.
