Christine Bartosiak
August 25, 1927 - December 4, 2010
South Bend - Christine Bartosiak, 83, passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Hospital after a long battle with Dementia. Christine was born on August 25, 1927, she was the daughter of Hattie and Alex Sieracki. Christine was an avid crafter and baker, spending vast amounts of time working ceramics, cross stitch and crocheting as well as baking large amounts of sweets for her family and friends. She also loved to go to bingo and marathon pinochle games were legendary in the family. She was a loving and caring person who always put the needs of others before herself. Christine was a member of Z.B. Falcons and a graduate of South Bend Catholic High School On February 8, 1947, Christine married the love of her life, Chester Bartosiak and with him raised four beautiful children. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester in 2003, her parents and her two brothers and a sister-in-law Matthew Sieracki and Ted (Lucille) Sieracki. Christine is survived by her children, Sharon (Ronald) Horvath of South Bend, IN., Dr. Ronald (Nancy) Bartosiak of Edwardsburg, MI, Diane (Dave) Martinez and Alan (Amy) Bartosiak of Shelby, OH, as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, December 9, 2010 in St. Jude Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. The family of Christine would like to give a heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers and staff of St. Paul's Retirement Community, especially those in the Good Shepherd memory care unit, for taking such excellent care of her and filling her last days with happy and loving memories for all of us.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Paul's Retirement Community of South Bend.Condolences for the family may be made to www.sjfh.net
