Marion F. Ross, 98, of Holland, formerly of Quincy, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Holland Hospice in Holland, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Marion was born on June 25, 1913 to Casper and Julia (Herman) Ross in Batavia Township, Michigan. He married Kathryn Cavanaugh in December of 1939. She preceded him in death in 1970. He later married Helen (Buck) George on August 28, 1973. She also preceded him in death in June 2009. Mr. Ross was a tool and die maker, attending Allied Mechanical School in Chicago, graduating in 1936. He had owned and operated Southern Michigan Machine Shop for several years and then worked for L.A. Darling, Bronson Specialty, Douglas Autotec and Sturgis Tool and Die, retiring in 1978. Marion was a lifelong resident of Branch County. He had been a member of St. Mary of Assumption Church, St. Charles Borromeo Church and most recently St. Francis of DeSales Catholic Church in Holland. He was also a member of the K of C and the U.C.T. He enjoyed golf, reading, playing his harmonica, accordian and operating his family dairy farm through the years. Mr. Ross is survived by his sons, Maurice (Connie) Ross of Merced, CA and Marion L. (Rosy) Ross of South Bend, IN, his daughters, Anne (Larry) Ratkowski of Hamilton and Mary Ellen Weinburg of Niles, sister, Evelyn Kubasiak of Bronson, step-daughters, Rosalie (Roger) Yesh of Richmond, IN and Jolayne (Gene) Taylor of Quincy, 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Ross, a sister, Edna Kubasiak and a daughter-in-law, Lupey Ross.
