Harriet T. Nowicki

Harriet T. Nowicki, 91, of St. Paul's Retirement Community in South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
She was born on October 12, 1914, to the late Joseph and Hattie (Janowski) Kubiak in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, four brothers, Henry, Frank, Eddie, and Joseph Kubiak, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nowicki was retired from Home Owners Loan Corporation in South Bend, where she worked as a legal stenographer.
On September 20, 1937, as Harriet T. Kubiak, she married Matthew F. Nowicki at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend. He died on August 15, 1995.
She is survived by one daughter, Joanne (George) Easley of Lincoln, NE; four sons, Francis (Pam) Nowicki of Lewisburg, PA, David (Deborah) Nowicki of South Bend, Mark (Margie) Nowicki of Mishawaka, IN, and Paul Nowicki of Corpus Christi, TX; 28 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nowicki was a member of Christ the King Parish, where she belonged to the Harvest House. She was also a member of Z.B. Falcons Nest #80, Golden Cluster at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Altar & Rosary Society and Harvest House.
Harriet graduated in 1932 with the first graduating class from St. Hedwig High School (which is now known as St. Joseph High School). She then attended South Bend Business College, where she graduated in 1933
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Vigil service will be held at 4 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in Christ the King Catholic Church, with Rev. Ronald Tripi, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
