Eleanor Staszewski, 97, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Memorial Hospital.Eleanor was born on August 30, 1925 in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Irene (Napieralski) Witucki. On May 29, 1948, Eleanor married the love of her life, Edward Staszewski, he preceded her in death, along with her daughter, Phyliss Stoynoff; sons-in-law, Robert Stoynoff and Larry Wall and granddaughter, Cheri Stoynoff. Left to cherish their memory of Eleanor are her children, Mary Ellen Wall, Kenneth (Mary) Staszewski, James (Melissa) Staszewski; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild who is on the way, and a sister, Esther (John) Borlick. Eleanor was a graduate of South Bend Catholic High School and later worked at Notre Dame for over 30 years. Eleanor was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, a member at St. Anthony de Paua Harvest House and Z.B. Falcon Legion of Honor. She loved gardening, canning, and baking; her specialty was wedding cakes which she made for over 30 years. Eleanor was a seamstress; she made many bridesmaids and wedding dresses throughout her years. In her free time, Eleanor enjoyed making crafts and ceramics as well as attending craft shows. Eleanor was loved by many and will be truly missed by all.Visitation for Eleanor will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in honor of Eleanor Staszewski may be made out to Z.B. Falcons Nest 80, 323 S. Sheridan Ave, South Bend, IN 46619. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net
