OSCEOLA - Rose Marie Szuba, 91, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 in Elkhart Hospice House. Rose was born on June 19, 1926 in South Bend to Walter and Lillian (Urbanski) Prawat. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend after 38 years of service as a surgery nurse, nursing supervisor, and Family Practice coordinator. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Med Center and was a member of Christian Center Church. She was a member of the Whispering Pines Bible Study Group in Mishawaka. Rose loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was able to see humor in everyday life. We honor her for her faith, love, integrity, generosity, goodwill and charity towards others. Rose was proud of her flower gardening and loved to watch birds feed in her backyard. On November 27, 1948 in St. Joseph Church, South Bend, she married Richard A. Szuba. He died on June 3, 2004. Surviving are 2 daughters, Jeanette (Michael) Kopsea of Osceola and Joan (Jerry) Lupa of South Bend; 3 sons, Ken Szuba of Florence, MT, John (Kathleen) Szuba of Niles, MI, and Mark (Linda) Szuba of South Bend, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Ralph (Gloria) Prawat and James (Carole) Prawat. Rose was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph Prawat. Family and friends may gather from 4-8 Tuesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in Zahoran Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
