NEW CARLISLE -- Alice G. (Sabinas) Kowalski, 94, died in Miller's Merry Manor, on Saturday, Jan. 20. Alice was born on January 1, 1912, in South Bend, to John and Mary Domagalski. Both preceded her in death. Alice married Peter Sabinas on April 2, 1932. Peter passed away in February 1967. In September 1973, Alice married Edward M. Kowalski, who passed away on Oct. 1, 2005. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Martha Zyto; and a niece, Patricia A. Zyto. Surviving Alice are a daughter, Rosemary Krzyzaniak; long-time friend, Dr. Leonard Pavacik; son, Jim (Sandy) Sabinas; granddaughter, Mary Jo (Randy) Harman; and great-grandson, Matthew Harman. Other grandchildren are, Christopher Stoler, Patrick Stoler, Jeff, Wendy, Andy and Beth Sabinas; and great-granddaughter, Mykayla Squibb. Alice retired from The St. Joseph Funeral Home after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Hedwig Rosary Society and the Golden Cluster. She was also a member of Valeria Azell Auxiliary #146. The love Alice carried in her heart will be left on earth forever. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, in ST. JSOEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions may be made to St. Hedwig Church, Hospice and Palliative Care Of St. Joseph County or to Miller's Merry Manor.
