SOUTH BEND - Wayne P. Marquardt, 69 years old, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Hospice House, South Bend. He was born in Sturgis, MI, to the late Lee A. and Janet (Shaffstall) Marquardt, and had lived in South Bend all of his life. On Feb. 13, 1965, in South Bend, Wayne married Judith A. Poczik, who survives. Along with his wife, Judith, survivors include his two sons, Jack P. (Debbie) Marquardt and Kurt A. (Katrina) Marquardt, both of South Bend. Four grandchildren also survive, Brooke, Jacob, Sarah, and Katie Marquardt. Two brothers preceded Wayne in death. Wayne was self-employed in the tool & die industry starting his company, Wayne Tool & Die, Inc. in 1979. He was extremely proud to have applied and received 3 patents for his business. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend. Wayne was a former member of the National Hot Rod Association, Sport Car Club of America and a chief mechanic at the Indianapolis 500 for five years where he was a member of the Old Timers Club. A celebration of life service for Wayne will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. David Schrader, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 3-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Wayne P.
