SOUTH BEND - Johnnie Lee Beavo, 60, of South Bend, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2012, in IU Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Toledo, OH, to the late John and Ruth (Baker) Beavo. On June 29, 1985, he married his best friend, Cheryl Lambert, who survives. He was known by his family as "Poppie." Poppie is also survived by his daughters, Kellie (Patrick) Smith of New Carlisle & Wendy (Jason) Montana of South Bend; his 4 sons, Jason (Lisa Ratajczak) Beavo of South Bend, Victor (Becky) Beavo of NY, Jamie (Misty) Kovach & Johnny Beavo, both of South Bend; 15 grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Jayda Smith, Paige Smith, Hayden Ratajczak, Brittany Beavo, Christopher Beavo, Amilio Beavo, Brianna Beavo, Brenden Kovach, Danielle Frost, Morgan Montana, Jessie Tindle, Jordan Montana, Mariah Montana, Stasia Beavo, & one expected this November, Dylan Beavo; 3 sisters, Barb (John) Elliott of Temple, TX, Tamara (Phet) Lee of Indianapolis & Betty Beavo of Toledo, OH; 2 brothers, Richard Beavo of Toledo, OH, & Timothy (Jenny) Beavo of Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews & many extended family. Poppie worked for South Bend Scrap Metal. Poppie was an avid gun collector, enjoyed fishing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday, October 18, 2012, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.
