SOUTH BEND - Mabel C. (Sterchi) Spitz, 88, of Rose Road, died Monday in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle. Mrs. Spitz was born March 25, 1906, in West Salem, Ill., and lived in South Bend most of her life. In 1928, as Mabel Ibbotson, she married Alfred A. Sterchi. He died in 1937. On Nov. 4, 1972, in South Bend, she married Anthony "Andy" Spitz. He died Oct. 24, 1992. She is survived by two sons, Vernon "Bud" Sterchi of South Bend and Jerry W. Sterchi of LaPorte; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services in Kaniewski Funeral Home. Burial in Riverview Cemetery.
