SOUTH BEND - James A. Lewinski, 84, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Jim was born May 14, 1932 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Lillian (Waloska) Lewinski. On May 10, 1958, Jim married the love of his life, Mary Ann Marshall; she preceded him in death on April 11, 1993. James was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lewinski. Survivors of Jim include his children, Deb Wentland of Walkerton, Mike (Miki) Lewinski of Indianapolis, Mary Lechtanski of Indianapolis and Nancy (Dave) Wieczorek of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Viki (Paul) Cain, Casey (Adam) Kloss, Jacki (Ray) Hagan, Abby Lewinski, Tyler Lechtanski, Jacob, Melissa, and Shawna Ladyga, Autumn (Brennan) Dilts, Samantha (Andy) Wassel, Kyle, Matthew and Emma Wieczorek; and great-grandchildren, Trystan, Ollie, Ellie, Kylie, Garrett, Melanie Patrick, Travis and Harrison.Jim honorably served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He retired from the Indiana State Police after more than 30 years of service. Jim was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church. He enjoyed photography and was the family historian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, June 16, 2016 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
