LA PORTE - Leo John Kroll, 89, of La Porte, passed from this earth into the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 28th 2016 in La Porte. Leo was born on August 16, 1926, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Stanley and Anna (Swiatek) Krol. In 1951, in South Bend, he married his wife of 46 years, Audrey Louise Fozo, who passed April 20, 1997. Leo is also preceded by his brothers, Joseph, Henry, and Matthew Kroll; and sisters, Mary Lorenc, and Harriet and Wanda Kroll. Leo is survived by his sons, Jonathan (Gail) Kroll of Montverde, Florida, Paul (Michelle) Kroll of La Porte, and David (Laura)) McGee of Altamonte Springs, Florida; two great grandchildren, Olivia and Gracelyn McGee; and two Kroll of Vashon Island, Washington; five grandchildren, Marcus, Hannah, Samuel, and Juliana Kroll of La Porte, and Kelli (Nick sisters, Henrietta Scholz of South Bend and Rita Wleklinski of Hammond. Leo was a lifelong resident of La Porte after moving from South Bend in 1958. He was a WWII active duty veteran of the Pacific Theater in 1944 and 1945. Leo retired in 1989 after spending 31 years working for Howmet Corporation, Austenal Division in La Porte. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was a lifelong Cubs fan, and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, La Porte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. (CST), Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1110 Monroe St., La Porte with Rev Joseph Angotti officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (CST), Monday, February 1, 2016 and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (CST), Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100. Burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte. Full military honors will be conducted by the La Porte Honor Guard. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5:8.
