DOWAGIAC - Alexander Siczek, age 88, of Dowagiac, died peacefully Saturday, April 25, 2015 in his residence. He was born January 15, 1927 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Joseph and Marianna (Yoc) Siczek. He married Mary Lou Ackerman May 14, 1960 in Buchanan, Michigan. She preceded him in death July 20, 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sylvia Mondich; one brother John Siczek; and two step sons, Thomas Whitmyer and Bobby Young. Alex really loved fishing, hunting and golfing. He spent his time making things for around the house. Alex was the magician at family gatherings and enjoyed playing jokes on people. He played the accordion. As late as two weeks ago he was still out Polka dancing. Alex worked at Sunstrand Manufacturing in Dowagiac for twenty-eight years. He then managed the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dowagiac Post 1855 for fifteen years until his retirement. Alex will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his son, Stanley (fianc‚ Joni Chase) Siczek of Mishawaka, Indiana; one step daughter Sandra Young of Osceola, Indiana; two grandchildren, Gavyn Siczek, Cassandra Reichcanater; one nephew, Chuck (Cherrill) Siczek of North Carolina; and two nieces Jeannie Mondich Beach and Marsha Mondich Kiner, both of Mishawaka, Indiana. Family and friends will gather Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, for a time of sharing memories and telling stories. Military honors will be accorded at 6:00 p.m. by active members of the U.S. Army and Dowagiac V.F.W. Post 1855, of which he was a member. Mr. Siczek's remains will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
