Carol Ann VanWiele, 70, of South Bend, IN passed away at 4:50 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Healthwin Specialized Care Center. She was born on January 26, 1946 in South Bend, IN to the late Oscar J. and Mary Ann (Mahler) VanWiele. Carol Ann is survived by her sister, Katherine (Duane) Kurek of South Bend, IN; brother, Robert (Dianne Woltman) VanWiele of South Bend, IN; niece, Andrea ( Jonathan) Kurek Slagh; nephews, Jon Paul Kurek and Shaun VanWiele and godchildren, Andrea Kurek Slagh, Anthony (Natasha) DeCloedt and Douglas (Emily) McLane.
Carol Ann was a lifelong resident. She worked as a registered nurse for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral; American Business Women; Alturas International of South Bend, Humane Society and Community Coordinator of Child Care, Indiana Nurses Association #7. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Carol Ann VanWiele may be offered to River Bend Cancer, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.
