SOUTH BEND - Barbara L. Katona, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in St. Joseph Regional Med Center. Barbara was born on October 17, 1949 in South Bend to Alex and Harriet (Pinkowski) Katona Jr. She was employed by the University of Notre Dame and also had operated Barb’s Restaurant in downtown South Bend. She loved people and was church oriented. Surviving are a daughter Jeannie (Brian Vogeley) Szucs, a grandchild Caih Szucs, a sister Debbie Winnicki, a brother David (Debbie) Katona, and sister-in-law Jennifer Katona. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, a son Jeff Szucs, a sister Beverly Wise, and two brothers Gary Katona and Michael Katona. Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
