Louis J. "Louie" Vida, 72, of Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. He was born on September 17, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Gizella (Homer) and Joseph Vida. Mr. Vida was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Dehner, who passed away on January 11, 2005; and by a sister, Marie Lant. On June 14, 1952, in New Carlisle, Indiana, he married Nancy Pierce, who survives. Mr. Vida is also survived by four daughters, Lu Ann Dehner of South Bend, Cynthia (Joe) Sypniewski of Overland Park, Kansas, Joan (Jeff) Peterson of South Bend and Jennifer Bert of White Pigeon, Michigan; two sons, Gary (Joann) Vida of South Bend and Robert (Pam) Vida of Bremen, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Irene Kenney of Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Vida retired from Bud's Wrecker where he was a driver and mechanic. He was a past member of the Good Sam's RV Club. Most importantly, Mr. Vida was a grandfather who loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and will be sadly missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
