Martin J. "Marty" Pace, 80, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006, in his home.Marty was born on May 4, 1926, in South Bend, to Martin and Irene (Rakowski) Paczesny. His parents have preceded him in death. On February 4, 1950, he married Lorraine Bartkowiak in St. Casimir Catholic Church, South Bend. She survives along with a son, David Michael (Janet) Pace of Walkerton; a daughter, Donna M. Osborn of North Liberty; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Bob) Essex, Heather (Tom) England, Laura (Micheal) Miller, Tonya (Jeff) Proud, Justin (Rebecca Tannis) Pace, Ashley (Joshua Semak) Osborn and Jenna (Rafael Ruiz) Pace; nine great-grandchildren, Alex, Carson, Jordan, Caden and Colton England, Audrie and Robert Essex, Mark Miller and Chayton Proud. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a former member of the Calvert Rod and Gun Club and of American Legion 357. He enjoyed fishing and reading. He was a man of many talents, and was especially good at fixing cars and anything around the house. Marty had served in the United States Marines for two years and in the United States Air Force for four.
