MISHAWKA-Kouts-Catherine M. DeVreese, 93, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away early on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Avalon Springs Health Campus in Valparaiso, IN. Catherine was born on July 11, 1923 in Mishawaka to Henry and Mary (Meuninck) Bokhart. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary E. Weil; sister, Eleanor Trippel; brothers, George Bokhart and Arthur Bokhart. On June 22, 1946 in Mishawaka as the former Catherine Bokhart, she married Julius DeVreese. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Lois A. (AL) Marks of Kouts; a son, Donald (Lou) DeVreese of Lafayette, IN; six grandchildren, Kim (Chris) Boynton, Matt (Dyan) Weil, Scott (Megan) Marks, Jenny (John) Lenz, Heath DeVreese, Hillary DeVreese; five great grandchildren, Mallory DeVreese, Lincoln DeVreese, Ally Lenz, Luke Marks and Carly Marks; sister, MaryAnn (Carl) Lehner of Granger; sister-in-law, Shirley Bokhart and son-in-law, George Weil. Catherine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and Circle #4. She was a lifetime area resident. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 8 from 2 to 6 p.m., with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 9 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Chris Lapp officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka 46544 or VNA Hospice of Porter County, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
