In 1865 in the Catholic parish of Srebrnegora of Poland, Constantine Kinowski, 24, married Francisca Machowski, 19. According to the 1900 federal census record of South Bend, Indiana, Frances Kinoski (sic), 54, had immigrated from Poland in 1872, was a widow, and had had 12 children of whom two were living: Lena, 20, and Ludoslaw (Ladislaw?), 13, both born in Indiana. Twenty years before, the 1880 federal census of South Bend had listed the family as Gustave, 40, and Francis, 35, both born in Prussia, and Paulina, born in January of that year. The records of St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend include the burials of five Kinowski children in August of 1879 in Cedar Grove Cemetery (in birth order); Catherine, Constance, John, Joseph, and Mary Kinowski. The records also include the burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery of Constance Kinowski, who died March 22, 1890 at 48 years.
