[N32322] Ilse A. Grove
September 30, 1949 - May 11, 2022

Ilse A. Grove passed away May 11, 2022 at North Woods Village, Mishawaka after many years battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). Ilse was born September 30, 1949 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She immigrated to the US with her husband, Karsten and their three sons, Jens, Søren and Niels Christian in 1984. Ilse went to Copenhagen Business School 1965-1968. She gained a broad and extensive work experience through jobs as Secretary or Administrative Aid at institutions such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Department of Mathematics, University of Copenhagen, Statistical Research Unit, Copenhagen, all in Denmark. In the US she worked part time as a secretary at Department of Special Education, University of Maryland and as Project Director and Desktop Publishing Specialist both at Maryland Sea Grant. Her ingenuity, systematic and efficient approach, and work ethic were highly appreciated wherever she went, as were her good humor and collegiality. Ilse combined a true ability and genuine joy for organization with a tremendous drive to research deeply the things that interested her. She loved animals and in fact, bred and showed whippets. Ilse loved music and was a natural dancer. In addition, she was a terrific cook and loved to host her friends. Later in life Ilse acquired an interest in Bridge and became a serious and competitive player. She was such an accomplished seamstress that she was entrusted with making her future daughter-in law’s wedding gown. Ilse was much loved, a warm, compassionate and vibrant person with an amazing sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She had a naturally welcoming attitude and a strong sense of fairness. We will miss her very much, as will all those who knew her, and she will live in our memories always. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the Grove family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Northwestern Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease PPA Research and Education Fund. c/o Eskedar Alem, 300 E.
