SOUTH BEND - Victoria A. Lovisa, 98, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, in Southfield Village. Victoria was born June 19, 1912, in Lover, Austria, to Vittorio and Teresa Ossanna. In 1933 she married Romano Lovisa, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Florentine Yob, Adolfo Ossanna and Cesere Ossanna. Victoria is survived by three children: daughter, Sandra (Robert) Vargo, and sons, Roman (Rita) Lovisa and Gary (Janet) Lovisa; grandchildren, Mark (Jacqui) Vargo, Gina (Marc) Porier, Jeffery (Dee Ann) Lovisa, Keith (Julie) Lovisa, Steven (Rachal) Lovisa, Thomas (Sarah) Lovisa and Victor (Julie) Lovisa; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews. Victoria loved being a homemaker, especially cooking large meals for all her children and grandchildren. She also loved gardening and growing her plants and flowers. She lived alone from 1986 to 2004 after the passing of her husband when she moved to Southfield Village Nursing Home until her death. In the earlier years at Southfield she enjoyed all the activities, especially bingo, and got great pleasure in assisting the new residents in getting acclimated to their new home. She most enjoyed the Tuesday cooking sessions where she could still get her hand into cooking and baking to be shared by all. She seemed in her six years to be one of the favorites of the staff which always treated her with kindness, respect and compassion. Victoria will be sorely missed by her family, but we know she will be reunited with her loving husband, brothers and sister. The family wishes to thank all the staff, nurses and aides for their care these last six years at Southfield Village. Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in St Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
