SOUTH BEND - Leo Walter Sobierajski, 91, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Golden Living Center, Elkhart, IN. Walter was born on November 7, 1919, in Poland, to the late Michael S. and Tillie (Waligarski) Sobierajski. On August 14, 1948, he married Harriet Witucki in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame. She preceded him in death on August 22, 1981. Walter is survived by guardian, Barb Matheson of Edwardsburg, MI, and nephews, Dave (Sue) Miller of South Bend and Dale Miller of Edwardsburg, MI. Walter enjoyed woodworking, fixing watches, going to the casinos, playing sweepstakes, cooking, fishing, archery, and especially loved his St. Bernards, Maverick 1 and Maverick 2. He served in the United States Army Air Corps, being discharged in 1945. The family is being assisted by the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
