Aloysius J. "Al" Grontkowski, 86, of Dunnellon, Fla., formerly of South Bend, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, in the Life Care Center of Ocala, Fla. He was born on June 2, 1914, in South Bend, to John and Mary (Kubiak) Grontkowski. On May 28, 1938, he married the former Lottie B. Ciesiolka who died on March 11, 1995. On May 22, 1997, in Dunnellon, he married Barbara Nielson, who survives, along with his nieces, Bernadine DeGeeter and Rita Grontkowski of Mishawaka. Mr. Grontkowski retired from Bendix Aero Space Division as an inspector after 38 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Community in Dunnellon, and he was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8511. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29 in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., in the WELSHEIMER FUNERAL HOME, 521 N. William St., where a Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
