SOUTH BEND - Michael A. Katona, 65, passed away at 3:10 pm Sunday, December 8, 2013, in his residence. Mike was born on September 8, 1948, in South Bend, to Alex and Harriet (Pinkowski) Katona Jr. He had been employed by the University of Notre Dame. Surviving are his former wife, Pamela Tierney; daughter, Lisa Marie Katona; granddaughter, Angel; 2 great-grandchildren, Bailey Grace and Ryder Andrew; 3 sisters, Barb Katona, Beverly Wise and Debbie Winnicki, all of South Bend; and 2 brothers, David Katona of South Bend and Gary Katona of Lebanon, IN.
