Frances S. Grabarek, 93, of South Bend passed away on Tuesday July 8th at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness with her loving family by her bedside.
Frances was born on May 2, 1921 in Bardstown, KY to the late William and Zelma (Kidwell) Hilton. She has been an area resident since 1945 coming from Bardstown, KY. On December 20, 1941 in New Albany, IN as the former Frances S. Hilton she married John S. Grabarek who preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by two daughters; Carolyn S. (David) Talboom of South Bend, and Sandra C. (Scott) Gregg of Zionsville, IN, three grandchildren; Gretchen (Jeff) Gear, Kristen (Eric) Koers and Jennifer (Travis) Pitchford, and two great-grandchildren; Holly Pitchford and Alex Koers. Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband, one sister Mary B. Perry and one brother Chester Hilton. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, her church family and all who knew her during her life's journey. She was member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and cooking, crocheting and spending time with her family. Visitation hours will be Friday July 11th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Southwest Chapel" located at 23421 State Road 23 / West Ireland Road South Bend. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Russell Snyder officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joe Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
