SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth M. “Betty” Schrader, 94, of South Bend, formerly of Koontz Lake, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at Sanctuary at St. Paul's, South Bend, Ind.Betty was born October 26, 1921, in South Bend, Ind., to Stanislaus and Mary (Stopczynska) Rudynski. On April 6, 1957, in Walkerton, Ind., she was married to Harold “Dutch” Schrader, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald; daughters, Barbara, Joan, Mary Lou and Alice; brothers, Bert, Walt and Albert; and a sister, Clara. Survivors include two daughters, Margie (Wally) Peregrine and Sue (Bob) Kovatch; one son, John (Fern) Coldeberg; son-in-law, Pat Grimm; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; one sister, Stella Frazier; and one brother, Louis Rudynski. Betty was a hardworking wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, and crocheting and made many colorful afghans for family and friends. Family was her heart. She loved babies and cared for many.The kitchen was her favorite place to be. On Tuesday around 5:00 you would find a least a dozen of her family members gathered at her table for dinner. Betty will be missed by many. The family wishes to give a special thank you to the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. A funeral service will be Friday, April 29, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, where friends may visit on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EDT.
