SOUTH BEND - Leon Edmund Kowalski, 73, passed away on July 3, 2014, at his home in Fort Bragg, CA. He was born in South Bend on November 30, 1940, to the late Leon E. and Benedictine Kowalski. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Valparaiso University and Law School. He practiced law in Indiana and Michigan before launching a second career in news and broadcasting as a radio and television talk show host on a local Mendocino, CA, station. He is survived by children, Kurt of Chelsea, MI, Nick of Traverse City, MI, and Kris Shelton of Winston-Salem, NC; also seven grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard and James. Services will be held in Mendocino/Fort Bragg, CA.
