Lorraine C. Kurek, 82, of Mishawaka, formerly of West 13th Street, passed away at 3:20 P.M. Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in St. Paul's Retirement Community in South Bend, IN. Lorraine was born August 3, 1924, in South Bend, as the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Wisniewski) Zbieranski. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. On February 23, 1963, in South Bend, as Lorraine Zbieranski, she married Richard Kurek, who preceded her in death in 1997. Lorraine is survived by a niece, Marilyn Hahn of North Carolina; and two nephews, Dwayne Kurek of Mishawaka and Eugene Zbieranski of South Bend. Also surviving are many great-nieces and nephews, and many close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 9, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka, with the Rev. Barry England officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Lorraine retired in 1985 after 20 years as a medical stenographer for the Tyrrell Clinic in Calumet City, IL. She was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church and AARP. The family requests that contributions in memory of Lorraine be made to St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
