SOUTH BEND - Bernice F. Wieczorek, 90, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 in Hamilton Grove Nursing Facility. Bernice was born June 23, 1925 in South Bend to the late Michael and Adeline (Grajczyk) Zmyslo. Bernice married Chester Wieczorek; he preceded her in death on October 31, 1985. Bernice was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Charles; sisters, Sister Joanella Zmyslo and Mary Ann Young; and brothers, Ted, Chester, Richard and Joseph Zmyslo. Survivors of Bernice include her children, Cindy Wieczorek of South Bend and Dave (Nancy) Wieczorek of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Ann (Sean) Hoade, Kyle Wieczorek, Samantha (Andy) Wassel, Matthew and Emma Wieczorek; great-grandchildren, Trystan and Oliver Wassel; and sisters, Sophie Kokot, Alice Bystry, Henrietta Kosinski, Theresa Kalicki and Wanda (Jim) Benjamin. Bernice retired from Raco after 40 years. She was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and a member of the Harvest House. Bernice took great pride in her yard. She also enjoyed taking trips to the Blue Chip and playing scratch off tickets. Her family said Bernice was a hard worker. Visitation for Bernice is 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 11, 2016 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace Street, South Bend, IN 46619. The family would like to “Thank” the staff at Hamilton Grove Nursing Home for all the care they provided. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
