Chester A. “Chet” Naragon
July 12, 1928 - July 20, 2017
SOUTH BEND - Chester A. “Chet” Naragon, 89, passed away early afternoon on July 20, 2017 in South Bend. Chet was born on July 12, 1928 to the late Lee and Dorothy (Rupel) Naragon in South Bend, Indiana. On December 10, 1950, Chet wed the love of his life, Lois Schlemmer. They celebrated nearly 67 years of marriage before his passing. Chet proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he was employed for 31 years at Jim Hammes Oldsmobile in Mishawaka as an auto mechanic. When he wasn't at work fixing cars, he was at home fixing cars and it was his true calling. Chet will always be remembered for being a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Naragon is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Dean (Annette) Naragon and Garold (Sherri) Naragon; grandchildren, Calon (Abbey) Naragon and Cory (Ardelia) Naragon; three great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Elaine Hoffman and Ardella Leisure. In addition to his parents, Chet was preceded in death by an infant sister as well as three brothers, Harold, William, and Ronald Naragon. Funeral services for Chet will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm, with family to receive friends two hours prior. Pastor Mark Lantz will be officiating. In honor of Chet's legacy, his family has requested that memorials be directed to Christian Center Church of South Bend, 530 E. Ireland Rd., South Bend, IN 46614; or Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
