Marian (Mammolenti) De Keizer
September 28, 1931 ~ April 28, 2021 (age 89)
MISHAWAKA - Marian (Mammolenti) De Keizer, 89 passed away peacefully with all her children by her side. Marian was the second child born to her Italian Immigrant parents Pietro and Theresa Maria (Martino) Mammolenti who came from Calabria, Italy. Marian was the first of their children born in America. Pietro moved to America first to find work and then in1930 Theresa joined him with their first child a daughter Rose. Soon after Marian was born their family grew with Rose and Marion and seven sons: Roy (Pat), Milio (Carol), Sam (Marilyn), Bob (Jean), Jim (Shirley), Pete (Pat), and Joe (Carol). Sadly, Rose (Gerry Marsh), Roy, Sam, and Bob preceded Marian in death. On June 12, 1954, Marian married Camiel Paul De Keizer (Jr.) at St. Joseph’s Church in Mishawaka. In the 57 years of the celebration of their life, Marian and Jr. had three wonderful children: Kenneth (Julia), Cheryl (Rob) Perkins, and Dennis (Dorothy). Their life’s blessings continued with 8 grandchildren: Haley Bean, Ataia Perkins (Anne), Spencer Perkins (Colin), Paul De Keizer (Jennifer), Camille De Keizer (Michael), Deanne De Keizer.. Their joy continued with three great-grandchildren: Davion Kobold-Perkins, Kasey Kobold- Perkins, and Grayson De Keizer. Two grandchildren, Andrea and Matthew De Keizer, preceded Marian in death. Marian most enjoyed time with her family. They took several camping trips with their children and then with their grandkids. Marian and Jr. loved to go on cruises. The most enjoyable one was to the Mediterranean and Jr. taking Marian to Italy. Marian was a special friend to many and she enjoyed the time with her friends and the many activities they enjoyed together. At the BK Club she was a member of the Women’s Archery Team. The team competed with other National Belgium teams In 1985, Wallaceburg Interntional Open Shot, Marian shot the high bird to win the Women’s National Championship. She also enjoyed her time with her friends at the D’Amici’s Club especially their bus trips. Everyone knew Jr. was a golfer but Marian also golfed at Eberhart Golf Course in the Women’s League. Together, Jr. and Marian created De Keizer Tax and Accounting Service. The business grew due to Jr.’s and Marian’s hard work to each and every clients they served. Marian was the kindness behind the business who would deliver to those that couldn’t leave their homes, welcomed them to her home, and knew them personally. “Mimi” to her grandkids, her grandkids friends, and everyone she affectionately adored will sorely miss her. As a mother, mom could never be replaced. She was a giver of herself and her time to her family and friends always without hesitation. She never wanted the attention that she deserved. One of her constant questions, when you walked into her house, was “Are you hungry?” Even if you didn’t think you were hungry, the delicious aroma coming from her kitchen made you think otherwise. One of her all-time favorite meals with her family was her homemade gnocchi and meatballs. She loved to cook and didn’t use recipes. It was just easy for her to make wonderful meals and found pleasure in feeding you. Mangia! Visitation for Marian will be on Monday, May 3, 2021, from 3:00 -7:00 pm in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka where the rosary will be recited at 6:45 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bavo’s Catholic Church Mishawaka with Rev. Pete Pacini CSC officiating. Entombment will follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.
