Irene A. Wieczorek, 90, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, February 21st 2023 in Memorial Hospital. Irene was born on June 13th 1932 in Bremen, Indiana to Anthony and Mary (Knycka) Wichlacz. She retired from Monarch Laundry after 40 years of employment. On January 16th 1960 she married Frank J. Wieczorek, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 8th 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary Wichlacz; one sister, Albina Laskowski; and two brothers, Stanley and Sylvester Wichlacz. Irene is survived by her daughter, Patricia Rybicki of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Frank (Dawn) Wieczorek and Mark (Tracy) Wieczorek of South Bend. Irene had 3 grandchildren she had the pleasure to raise. James Patrick Rybicki of South Bend, Amber Pal of South Bend and Christopher Wieczorek of Palm Bay Florida. Irene also had 6 other grandchildren she loved just as much from marriages. Irene also had twelve great-grandchildren. Irene was a very religious woman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends at Karl King Riverbend Tower. She was a huge Notre Dame fan, especially football. She always ran the family 1-10 board for the Notre Dame football games. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 11th at 11 a.m. and a visitation will be held afterword from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Kaniewski’s Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana 46628. A Polish Luncheon at Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club, 26230 Southport Drive, South Bend, Indiana 46628 will be held following the visitation services.
