Obituary: Jane A. Meuninck
Aug. 5, 1916 -- July 10, 2005
Jane Audean Meuninck, 88, of Abilene, Texas, and a longtime resident of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, Michigan, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005, of natural causes. A memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg, MI. The time and date will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Meuninck was born on August 5, 1916, to Charles and Marguerite Ort Goss in Mishawaka, Indiana. At the age of 5, Jane was adopted by her grandparents, Walter and Grace Audean Ort, due to her mother's dying of tuberculosis. She was raised on a farm in northern Indiana, where her grandparents lived to see Jane grow into an adult.
On October 16, 1937, Jane married the love of her life, Albert James Meuninck in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Indiana. They were married for 64 years. After Mrs. Meuninck's children were grown, she worked as an accountant supervisor for Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka, Indiana. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Tri Kappa Sorority and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Indiana. Upon retirement, Jane became a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg, MI, and was presently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene, Texas. Mrs. Meuninck was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husband, Albert Meuninck; and a younger sister, Grace Elizabeth Zimmerman. Mrs. Meuninck is survived by her daughter, Judie Anne Eichorst and husband, Doug of Abilene; two sons, James Albert Meuninck and wife, Jill of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and Thomas Charles Meuninck and wife, Karen of Walkerton, Indiana. Jane was blessed with six grandchildren, Judie Anne McCay and husband, David of Abilene, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Audean, Taylor and Parker McCay, Doug Eichorst II and wife, Karen of Midland, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Doug III (Trey), Dirk, Kaelee and Kelly Elizabeth; and grandson, Lt. Col. Chris Eichorst and wife, Adina of Woodbridge, Virginia; and twin great-grandsons, Aidan Lee and Luke Albert; granddaughter, Jessica Ganger and husband, Jeff of Minneapolis, MN; and great-grandson, Isaac Ganger; and grandson, Tyler Meuninck and wife, Jennifer of Indianapolis, IN; and granddaughter, Rebecca Meuninck of Ann Arbor, MI.
Jane will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and treasured friend to all. Her deep love of God and people was felt by all who were fortunate to have had their lives touched by her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Windcrest, 6050 Hospital Drive, Abilene, TX 790601; to the Alzheimer's Association; or to the Food Bank of Abilene.
