MISHAWAKA - Chester A. Wielgos, 85, passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2010, in Emeritus at Arborwood. Chester was born on May 17, 1924, in South Bend, to the late Paul and Stella (Matuszak) Wielgos. On April 12, 1947, in South Bend, Chester married Lorraine L. (Oleniczak), who passed away on August 31, 1998. He was also preceded in death by brothers, John and Eugene. Chester is survived by his children, Chris (Dr. Gene) Forry of Granger and Wayne (Cheryl) Wielgos of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Shawn (Andrea) Forry, Shannon (Kelsey) Forry, Steven (Heather) Forry, Brent (Trisha Powell) Forry, Melissa Forry, Lindsey Wielgos and Lauren Wielgos; great-grandchildren, Michael, Julianna, Etta, Nicholas, Kaitlyn and Lucas; and a sister, Virginia (Joe) Rozewicz of South Bend. Chester proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and then for the Ron Brown Agency. He enjoyed playing the piano and co-founded the Johnny Chester Orchestra. He was a member of the Million Dollar Round Table and was past president of the Cambridge Square Association. He was a very outgoing person who loved spending time with people, and cherished the time he spent with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, where family and friends may gather one hour before for visitation. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. For those who are unable to attend the funeral Mass, condolences for the family may be made at www.sfjh.net.
