SOUTH BEND Helen M. Wasowski, 75, of Arabian Court, South Bend, formerly of Vernon Drive, died at 7:30pm on Friday, January 23, in Hospice House. She was born on March 27, 1922, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a former employee of the University of Notre Dame, and in 1986, she retired from Indiana University, South Bend. She was married on May 4, 1946, in South Bend, as Helen M. Kaczynski, to Benedict G. Wasowski, who died on June 15, 1978. She is survived by a son, Dale Wasowski, of South Bend; three brothers, Leonard (Patricia) Kaczynski, Ervin (Joan) Kaczynski and Gene (Marlene) Kaczynski, all of South Bend; and by 10 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Kaczynski, who died in 1994. Mrs. Wasowski was a member of St Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Harvest House of the church. She was also a member of the Rosary Society of Holy Family Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 8pm on Tuesday in St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30pm on Tuesday. Services will be held at 10am on Wednesday in St Stanislaus Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend IN 46637.
