ELKHART -- Gladys H. Quarandillo, 91, of Elkhart, died Friday (July 30, 2010) in Golden Living Center. She was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Millville, Mass., to James and Laura (Morrin) Haganey. She married Louis Quarandillo on May 5, 1945, in Maryland. He died Jan. 26, 1978. Surviving are three sons, Louis E. (Nancy) Quarandillo, James F. (Elizabeth) Quarandillo of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Kevin J. (Amanda ) Quarandillo all of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Ward, Margaret Laferriere and Helen Haganey. Two brothers, Francis and James Haganey, preceded her in death. Mrs. Quarandillo was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society, Harvest House of St. Vincent and Daughters of Isabella. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School in Rhode Island North Adams Hospital Training School and a veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II, where she was stationed at Bethesda, Md., as a nurse. She enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles and reading. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with burial in St. Vincent's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
