SOUTH BEND - Former South Bend resident Isabelle E. Mechling, 96, of Carmel, IN, died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, September 28th, in Carmel Health and Living. Mrs. Mechling was born April 30, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Helen (Nemeth) and Edward Soos, and lived in South Bend most of her life until moving to the Indianapolis area in 2013. On April 28, 1945, in South Bend, as Isabelle Soos, she married John A. Mechling, who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Elsie Conn, Helen Olund, and Edward Soos, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Quigley (Thomas) of Indianapolis. Isabelle was an avid reader and loved traveling and bowling. Another of her favorite things was to spend time gardening and enjoying her garden. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Graveside services will then follow at Highland Cemetery.
