Zachary Flowers, age 21, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was born February 14, 1992 in South Bend and has lived in this area all of his life. Zach graduated from Penn High School and enjoyed working with his parents in their family owned business; Toot-n-Tellem Towing, in Mishawaka. After participating in the Elkhart Career Center, he began his career as a CNC machinist at Value Tool in South Bend. Two years ago, he began working at Kessington Machine Products in Elkhart. He is survived by his “baby girls”; his daughter, Alivia Flowers and her mother, Ashley Hamilton of Osceola who he loved dearly, his parents, Frank and Caroline (Johnson) Flowers, brother, Lance Flowers, maternal grandparents, Darwin (Betty) Johnson, paternal grandparents, Jim (Pat) Howard, all of Mishawaka. Also surviving are three aunts, Luanne Johnson, Sharon (Joe) Wawrzyniak, and Laurie (Brian) McLemore, an uncle, Jeff (Lynn) Flowers, several cousins and his great friend, Max Kleiman.
Zach loved to fish, especially the St. Joe River, with his cousin, Brian McLemore. A Monday evening was not complete without going to Wings, etc. with his brother, Lance. He enjoyed hunting and shooting his bow. He was a huge Michigan football fan. Zach was friendly, outgoing and had a smile that would light up a room. He had many friends and will be greatly missed by all. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Rd, Granger, IN 46530. Rev. Terry Coonan will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may gather with the family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend and one hour prior to services at the church. Contributions in memory of Zachary Frank Flowers can be made to the family as a benefit to Alivia, his daughter. Online condolences may be sent through www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
