High School Honors: Earned letters in football, wrestling, and baseball; never defeated in wrestling - dual, conference, or state meets.
College Attended: University of Notre Dame 1930-1932 , George Washington University Graduated: 1935
Coaching Experience: Head football coach at South Bend Washington, with record of 60-10-6, 1935-1943; head coach at Evansville Memorial, with record of 12-4-2, 1946-1948; assistant coach at University of Tulsa, with a record of 24-6-1, 1949-1952, then head coach at Tulsa, with a 6-14 record 1953-1954; assistant coach at University of Notre Dame, with a record of 23-17, 1955-1958.
Coaching Honors: South Bend Washington team considered mythical state champions 1937-1939.
Outstanding Players Coached: Steve Bagarus, Notre Dame and Washington Redskins; Jim Walker, Iowa; Joe Kodba, Purdue and Detroit Lions; Bob Heck, PU; Marvin Matusczak, Tulsa and Pittsburgh Steelers; Tommy Hudspeth, Tulsa and head coach Detroit Lions; Roger Leheu, Tulsa and general manager Detroit Lions; Tom Miner, Tulsa and personnel director Cleveland Browns; Ernie Zalejski, Washington HS, Notre Dame, and Baltimore Colts; Joe Scibelli, Notre Dame and LA Rams.
Special Recognition: From 1935 to 1943, had more student athletes that attended college than combined total of 4 other South Bend schools; inducted into Polish-America Sports Hall of Fame 1990.
