Alex F. Deranek, 92, formerly of Johnson Street, South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in Southfield Village.

Alex was born on November 22, 1913, to Joseph and Hattie (Stachowiak) Deranek. On January 19, 1935, he married Alice C. Dolniak in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church, South Bend. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2003. His parents, five brothers, Robert, Richard, Joseph, Chester and James, and his sister, Phyllis Fay, have also preceded him in death.

Surviving Alex are his daughter, Geraldine Danilewicz; two sons, Thomas G. (Margaret) Deranek and Ralph A. (Susan) Deranek; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a member of K of C Santa Maria Council #553, K of C Fr. Nieuland Fourth Degree Assembly #242, and the Bendix Salaried Retirees Club.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 28, 2006, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 SOUTH MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND, where a combined 4th degree and parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
