Gerald S. Soleta, 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:25 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, in Elkhart Hospice House. Gerald was born on April 9, 1925 in South Bend to Stanley and Harriet (Wegner) Soleta, and was a lifelong resident. He had formerly been employed with Bendix, First Source Bank, and the University of Notre Dame. After retirement, Gerald taught at Ivy Tech for several years. Survivors include his sister, Elaine (Arthur) Taelman of Naples, FL; two nieces, Doreen Bergland of Cleveland, TX and Janine Barany of West Palm Beach, FL; one great-niece, Alison and two great-nephews, Joshua and Justin all of Cleveland, TX; and a great-grand niece, Jordyn Bergland.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2010 in the Sacred Heart Parish Center Chapel, Notre Dame, IN. Please enter the Sacred Heart Parish Center Parking Lot off Douglas Road. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Gerald was a United States Navy Veteran. He attended the University of Notre Dame and was a graduate of I.U.S.B. Gerald was a die hard Notre Dame fan.
