Phyllis Banaszak

SOUTH BEND - Phyllis N. Banaszak, 86, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, October 4th, at 12:12 PM at Memorial Hospital South Bend after an extended illness. She was born on August 7, 1928, in South Bend, to Rudolf and Edith (Whitaker) Hamann. On November 7, 1953, in South Bend, as the former Phyllis Hamann, she married Norbert A. Banaszak, who survives. Phyllis retired from the Bendix Corporation where she worked in Maintenance and on the Break Line. She is also survived by one daughter, Sandy S. Nowaczewski of New Carlisle; one son, Thomas L. (Janice) Emerick of Mishawaka; one brother, Charles Hamann of Mishawaka; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Hamann; and seven brothers: Frances, Victor, Harold, James, Rudolf Jr., Thomas and Donald Hamann. Phyllis's hobbies included sewing, cooking, gardening, crafts, and flowers. There will be no visitation or services. Phyllis's wishes were to be cremated and her loving family has honored those wishes. Cremation has taken place. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice.
