MANISTIQUE, MI - Catherine L. Grabowski, 91, of 309N Sunset Beach Drive, Indian Lake, Manistique, Michigan, died March 13, 2012, at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique. She was born February 17, 1921, in Granger, Indiana, the daughter of Michael and Katalin (Novogradecz) Radics, and attended school in Granger. In her younger years, Kate was employed at the Wilson Shirt Company and later the Ball Band US Rubber Company in Mishawaka, IN. She later worked as a clerk at Tepe's family store in South Bend, IN, and at the Hands Rintz Luggage store in Mishawaka. The former Catherine L. Radics married Walter Grabowski, and he preceded her in death in 2003. Kate had lived most of her life in the South Bend and Mishawaka, Indiana, area and moved to Iowa City, Iowa, in her later years. She moved to Indian Lake on December 2, 2011, from Iowa City. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing bingo at the Manistique senior center, and being with her family. Kate is survived by her daughter and husband, Nila Haug and Dennis Nowotny of Manistique; daughter, Gail (Norman) Goethals of Muncie, IN; son, Gary (Dawn) Grabowski of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Kirk Haug, Courtney (David) Dobrow, Jackie, Andrew & Alan Grabowski, and Mike Nowotny; along with five great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Jeanette) Radics of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Helen (Floyd) Kuzan of Mishawaka, IN; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Mike, and her sisters, Irene, Ann and Theresa. Per Kate's request, there will be no services.
