SOUTH BEND - Barbara Szabo, 89, of Indianapolis, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 6:39 pm Monday, October 22, 2012, in Countryside Meadows. Barbara was born on Nov. 30, 1922, in Rabapordany, Hungary, to Andrew and Agnes (Kocsis) Horvath. She was employed by Wells Electronics, was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, its St. Ann Society and Sacred Heart & Rosary Society. On Oct. 23, 1947, in Austria, she married John Szabo. He died on April 1, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Szabo, a great-grandson, Drew Michael Engel, and 8 brothers & sisters. Surviving are a son, John R. (Susan) Szabo of Indianapolis; 2 granddaughters, Candi (James) Blowe and Lindsay Szabo and 3 great-grandsons, Aaron Blowe, Johnathon Blowe & Blake Carswell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3-6 Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm.
