April 20, 1942 - June 21, 2012 NILES - Mathue Joseph Rakowski, 70, of Niles, Michigan, passed away at his home onThursday, June 21st. He was born April 20, 1942, to the late Samuel & Juanita (Luke) Rakowski. He is survived by a daughter, Angela (Paul) Churches, and a son, Mathue Eric (Leanne) Rakowski, both of Niles. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Rakowski, and a brother, Tony Rakowski of Indiana. A brother, Abel Rakowski, preceded him in death. He was the owner of Niles Feed & Seed Store for 42 years and farmed for over 50 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Fernwood and was an avid birdwatcher. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 123 S. Oak Street in Buchanan, Michigan, on Tuesday, June 26th, at 5:30 p.m., Pastor Rob McPherson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Fernwood, 13990 Rangeline Road, Niles, Michigan; or to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
