SOUTH BEND - William M. Bognar, 87, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012, in his residence. William was born on October 14, 1924, in South Bend, to Paul and Mary (Kulcsar) Bognar. He was employed by Studebaker and was also a painter with Local 1118. Bill also served his country, being a World War II Navy veteran. On May 5, 1951, he married the former Rose Mary Herczeg. She died on June 29, 2010. William was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Bognar and Henry Bognar. Surviving are two sons, James (Theresa) Bognar of Virginia Beach, VA, and Timothy (Sarah) Bognar of Mishawaka; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Crystal) Bognar, Michelle Bognar, Danielle Bognar and Elizabeth Bognar; and 4 brothers, Albert (Sylvia) Bognar of Tampa, FL, Alex (Marge) Bognar and Joseph (Sylvia) Bognar, both of South Bend, and Edward Bognar of Granger. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Friday, August 24, 2012, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Cremation will follow with burial of his ashes at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Church or to The Center for Hospice Care.
