South Bend - Donald Lee Lundquist, 84, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis surrounded by his family. Donald was born May 30, 1934 in South Bend, to the late Arvid and Elsie (Szczypiorski) Lundquist. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Lundquist; and sister, Shirley Coughlin. Survivors of Don include his children, Laurie Evans, Greg (Lisa) Lundquist, DeAnna (William) Kinyon, and Debra (Timothy) Hudak, all of South Bend; ex-wife, Norma Lundquist; grandchildren, Rachael Bowering, Jessica Evans, Brice Kinyon, Kalie Lundquist, Anna and Samantha Hudak; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Cathy) Lundquist; sister-in-law, Ardeth Lundquist; and brother-in-law, Dan Coughlin. Don served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed cabinet maker specializing in custom counters. Don was also a volunteer Firefighter and (chief for a few years) and EMT in Warren Twp. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Northern Fisherman’s Club and Crumstown Conservation Club. He loved woodworking especially “making old treasures look like new” for himself and others. Don loved wildlife, especially hunting for Morel mushrooms sending his grandchildren into the “thickets”. His cooking was his passion especially when others were able to enjoy it. Don’s family welcomes everyone for a celebration of his life at Crumstown Conservation Club on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. A private burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery at a later date. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent Heart Center, 10580 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46290. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
