Henrietta Harsanyi

NEW CARLISLE - Henrietta died on Sunday, February 13th, her wedding anniversary date, at the age of 89. She was born on May 6, 1921, in South Bend, as Henrietta Olejniczak, the eldest daughter of Ignacy and Mary (Botka) Olejniczak. On February 13, 1940, she married Steven Harsanyi, who preceded her in death on April 16th, 1989, after celebrating 49 years together. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two siblings. She is survived by her son, Gene (Karol Garatoni) Harsanyi, and daughter, Sandy (Albert) Papai. Her grandchildren are Douglas (Valerie) Harsanyi, Tod (Barbara) Papai, Gina Harsanyi, Kelly (Tom) Jarka, Melissa (Ray) Kuczmanski and Deanne (Rod) Anadon. She was deeply proud of her 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Mary Jane Fisette, Ben Manning and Matthew Manning. Henrietta was a volunteer for Saint Joseph Hospital. She also was a member of The Daughters of Isabella and the Bethany Ladies. She will be remembered for her baking (especially butterhorns), and was considered a master seamstress. She loved nothing more than doing for others and enjoying the company of her family. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. E.S.T. on Thursday, February 17th, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm E.S.T. on Friday, February 18th, in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church. There will be visitation for one hour in the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
